training

Taking public transport has been part of my life's equation since before my kindergarten days i believe. I've always fascinated by the railway network, the mechanics that trains travel on tracks, and am quite intrigued by the sheer engineering capabilities to allow a railway train to switch lanes at certain crossover points. I am thankful that I'm living in Pasir Ris. Very thankful in fact. Because my town is the terminal station for the east west line, where passengers coming from the west would have to alight at Pasir Ris, hence freeing up seats. Although I am still obliged to give up my space for someone who needs it more than me.

So many ways to spend our time on the train while seating down. One could rest, take a short nap, taking a pause in life while drowning oneself in one's favourite music. One could read, or perhaps study. A short catching up of notes before your next class perhaps. One could use the time to reflect and think about the day's events, and be thankful, while learning something from the day's experience.

I was heading back home this evening after my night classes, got a seat on the train, and this lovely song was playing, and speaking to me...

What's wrong, whats getting you down
Is it something I might have said?
You're walking around
with your head to the ground
and your eyes are watery red

I know you've been through rough times
Kicked around, thrown to the ground
but you've always been the strong one
So don't tell me that nobody gets you
'cause I'm standing in your corner
Knocking at your door
You don't have to be alone

Just call my name
Let me be an answer
'cause it hurts me to see you this way
I wanna ease your pain
Help me understand
Let me be your shelter my friend

We share a bond
You and I we belong
We're like coffee and morning trains
You strip my defenses
I catch your pretenses
The same blood runs through our veins
I swore I'd be your lifeline
Made a vow that I'd surround you with love at every milestone
I'll listen when nobody gets you
I'm still standing in your corner
Waiting by your door
You don't have to be alone

Just call my name
Let me be an answer
'cause it hurts me to see you this way
I wanna ease your pain
Help me understand
Let me be your shelter my friend

It was not too long ago
You sought to understand
You helped me mend
Remember when
So promise me you'll

Call my name
Let me be an answer
'cause it hurts me to see you this way
I wanna ease your pain
Help me understand
Let my be your shelter my friend

The song was speaking to me. Because more than 70% of the events mentioned in the composition described me. Haha.

School was quite fun today. In one of our microscopic slide, after performing the usual basic gram staining, there was a smudge where there were more than a layer of bacterial cocci cells on each other. And from the view from the lens, it looked like an image of the Singapore Mobilization sign, remember the lil green image, that will keep flashing on TV whenever the Army wants to activate some reservist guys for some mob. Haha. Me and Victor began joking on how the army now uses such enhanced technology to activate people for mobs via a microscopic slide. Haha.

And so we thought it was over...

After class, Victor received a notification via his cell phone about his upcoming army mobilization in 2 weeks time.

Talk about signs.
