Strict Diet

A man returns from a overseas trip and is feeling extremely ill.

He goes to see his family doctor and is immediately rushed to the hospital to undergo a series of blood and biochemical tests.

The man wakes up after these tests in a private room at the hospital and the phone by his bed rings. "This is your doctor," says the voice on the phone. "We have the results back from your test and... I'm sorry, you have an extremely contagious deadly disease known as G.A.S.H."

"G.A.S.H?" replies the man. "What in the hell is that?"

"It's a combination of Gonorrhea, AIDS, SARS and Herpes," explains the doctor.

"My gosh, Doc!" screams the man in a panic, "what are we going to do?"

"Well, we're going to put you on a strict diet of Pizza, Pancakes, Quesadillas and Pita bread," says the doctor.

"Will that cure me?"

"Well, no," says the doctor, "but it's the only food that will fit under the door."

Spooky memories

Molecular bio examination was no easy feat. And I really have to lean on God if I really wanna do well for it. I've put in my best, and I'll pray he'll do the rest.

Couple of eventful moments took place over the past weeks. Each one of them last only a certain amount of time, and no matter how much we pray for more of it, we know that time cannot be extended. We must continue to embrace every precious moment we have, treasure every time spent with friends and loved ones.

25th October 2008 Night Safari!

You gotta give props to the actors during the halloween fest at Night Safari. Disciplined, professional, commited to their objective and goal. One look at the faces and their expression, and you can translate it to their positive attitude towards the job that they are doing. Something which lots of staffs in service-oriented companies in singapore lack: the attitude to serve. Another thing which Eugene may lack too: the attitude of not going out of point in this blog entry.

Apart from sleeping animals (linda and I have a conjecture on how these animals work dual shifts. One in the morning in the zoological gardens, and the 2nd shift is to sleep in the night safari) the special themed event did improved the atmosphere in the park as compared to the time i visited a couple of years back. The special tram ride that brought us to torture chambers, the occasional scares, and one creepy guy managed to give my dear a lil scare as he creeped up behind her while she was distracted. Boo!

And what would normal students do when their exams are just around the corner? They would go for a refreshing Spa at Batam of course!!

The lunch provided after our spa treatment was not bad at all! Cereal Prawns, sweet and sour Fish, some Chicken in some yummy sauce. Like a mini Zhi Char meal. With that, it was time to try out cable skiing for the very first time. Being noobs, we had to learn the basic kneeboard skiing first. And woo! I fell off 2 times before managing to complete a full lap!

Fumble! Oh noooo...

Remember the rowing-like machine we see at the gym? We finally knew the use of it.

Woo!

And to end the day off, we had some good food at Batam Centre. Missed A&W's curly fries, waffles and their original rootbeer float. Looking at the pics is making me hungry again! And yes we had 2 meals for dinner. Why? Because there is no where else where you can find a Stuff crust large pizza for less than S$11. A similar pizza at our local Pizza Hut restuarants costs more than 2 times as much! Food Standards in our local pizza huts are pathetic and overpriced.

Donuts! And I only had one of them. The rest were gobbled up by my family members. well done.

Had to "Ta Bao" the pizzas halfway, because the ferry was about to leave for Singapore! And nope, there weren't any "No Eating" signs on board too.

He's Able

The past two weeks have been eventful. Lectures and Labs are becoming challenging, made new friends in classes as well. School has been enjoyable and I'm really thankful for all that God has provided.

To put in effort and resources to help a fellow faithful friend has been tiring no doubt. It made me realize how every one of us has our own unique set of challenges and trials that we have to go through. And how this life we lead can degenerate due to circumstances that we have no control over.

Times can be difficult, but it is such moments that we must remain strong, because we know and acknowledge that our God is faithful and able! And he will provide us with friends to show us support, to lend us a helping hand whenever we need one.

When friends step in to pull each other up, it will be tiring and draining, but personally I feel there shouldn't complains if its within everyone's capabilities. And to see the smile on my friend's faces at the end of the day, it is all worth it.
