the girl and her handphone

i seldom read forwarded emails. mainly because most of them are ridiculous chain letters,

(eg. send this now to 7 friends!! or your loved ones will have bad luck for 49 days!!!)

or either that i've got no time and cant really be bothered. now that i've stopped computer gaming, i have relatively more time and came across the following article in my e-mail.

I hope you will spend some moments reading this sad and unfortunate article.

-----

This is a true story of a young college girl who past away last month in Shah Alam.
Her name is Priya. She was hit by a lorry. I don't wanna mention the name of the college.

She had a boy friend by the name of Shankar. He stays in Johor. Both of them were deeply in love with each other. They used to spend hours talking on the phone. In fact, you can never see her without her handphone.

She spends 3/4 of the day talking to Shankar. Priya's family knows about her close relationship. Shankar is very close with Priya's family.

She used to joke with her friends, "If I pass away, please burn me with my handphone." She also repeated the same thing to her parents.

When she passed away suddenly, the funeral procession could not lift her coffin. I was there. A lot of them tried to do so but still can't, everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called their neighbour, a "bomoh" from thailand (Pak Darin), who was a friend of her father.

He took a seat and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said "This girl misses something here". Then her friends told Darin about her intentions to have her cremated with her phone. He then opened the coffin and place her phone and SIM card inside the casket. After that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. All of us were shocked.

Priya's parents didn't inform SHankar that Priya had passed away. After 2 weeks, SHankar called Priya's mom.

Shankar, "Atte, I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for me. Don't tell Priya that I'm coming home today. I wanna surprise her."

Her mother replied, "You come home first, I got to tell you something very important."

When he got to Shah Alam, they told him the truth about Priya.

Shankar thinks that they were playing a fool. He was laughing and said "Don't try to fool me. Tell Priya to come out. I have a gift for her. Please stop this nonsense".
Then they show him the original death certificate to him. They gave him proofs to make him believe. (Shankar started to sweat).

He said, "Its not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me!"

Shankar was shaking. Suddenly, Shankar's phone rang.

"See, this is from Priya. See this..." he showed the phone to Priya's family.

All of them told him to answer. He talked using the loudspeaker mode. All of them heard his conversation loud and clear. No cross lines, no humming. It is the actual voice of Priya and there is no way others could use her simcard since it was placed inside the coffin before cremation.

They were so shocked and asked for Pak Darin's help again. Pak Darin brought his master (Tok Chen) to solve this matter.

He and Darin worked for 5 hours. Then they discovered one thing...

The long battle is over.

I will come back out my shell eventually..."

It's You I long for
With all my heart

Supposed to cycle to Nashran's place for late dinner. as i was leaving house, was kinda reflecting on something my dad said earlier. closed and locked my main door, went to my elevator, and realized i have forgotten to bring out my bicycle.

well done. talk about absent-mindedness.

Some recollection...

Our gift for Grace Chen. lovely.

Year 2007 is coming to an end. And indeed time is going by so fast! next year i'll turn 22. and very soon the next thing I know, I'll be hitting thirties.

Busy week is over. thank God. I shudder at those who can't be bothered to take their lessons/training/tests seriously. all we ask from you is to put in the least bit of effort. In the training institute that i'm at now, its impossible to fail. unless you choose to just stand there and not do anything during the conduct of the test itself.

my stand is clear. I'm not a racist. I have friends from all races. I just abominate those who do not even put in the least effort in their job. You cannot incriminate me if they all happen to be of a the same race...

"i hate this feeling
this concoction of confusion and misery
where's the tune of that sweet melody?

I need the strength
To overcome this bitterness and torment
to live this meaningful life that God intent..."

we wait we wait

"A few months ago, I read in media reports that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be hiring a private company to catch errant taxi drivers who refuse to pick up commuters and cheat tourists. I would like to know the progress on this issue."
-Lim Boon Hee-
-TODAY (Voices)-
-http://www.todayonline.com/articles/218136.asp-

wooo... all of us waiting for a response from LTA and maybe from PTC... so many articles on our cabbies, and no proper response from any relevant bodies. yet.

Interesting man...

i will not be surprised if they give the same old lame Computer-generated generic response:

"We thank the public for their feedbacks on our Taxi Drivers. We take this issue seriously and we will look further into this matter together with the various Taxi companies. We hope you'll continue to support your friendly neighborhood taxis and have a enjoyable trip every time."

zzz...

Day 2 of 5 of tiring week is over!!

I must sleep early today! I must sleep early today! I must sleep early today! I am trying to sleep early today! I am trying to sleep early today! I tried to sleep early today!

was teaching a lesson yesterday, and when after the class i noticed one of my trainees was actually my fellow section cadet mate back in OCS last year. its sad and disheartening to see another fellow mate not making it to the end.

Argh... and Shu Fang is leaving us choir!

Moooo...

"Mr David Segar, a project officer who had been waiting more than 20 minutes for a cab at Boat Quay on Wednesday night, said: 'It's so frustrating when empty cabs refuse to pick up locals, but only stop for tourists who pay ridiculous prices.'"

And sometimes we wonder what the Public Transport Council does, other than approving those yearly transport fare increments submitted by SBS and SMRT. This is not a freaking "overnight" problem... its been going on for months! and according to some, years! about a month and a half ago, me too, together with my mum tried hailing for cabs at Clarke quay, but to no avial. when we moved to taxi stand at a nearby hotel, the queue was long, but still no cabs... took us about 30 mins++ before a decent driver took some pity on the local Singaporeans and picked us.

day one of five of eugene's busy teaching week is over. four to go. yay.

It was a good long weekend last week =)

Going back to the zoo brings back memories... when our school teachers would bring us there, visiting the animal enclosures... being amazed at the long necks of giraffes, awed by the cuteness of the lil penguins.

Treasure today. Because when you grow up... you will miss your younger days...

ahh... this one tried to bite my ear off! thank God i ducked on time...

More pics in facebook soon. =)

Faithful Friend

When one is holding a certain appointment or if one if one is of a certain rank, I would expect a certain form of professionalism and standard.

lets call him SPIG (Some Particular Irritating Guy).

Imagine the following:

(1)
SPIG : "What is the MRT station nearest to East Coast Park?"
Me : "hmmm bedok, and kembangan i think."
SPIG : "HUH?! SO FAR AH?! Can nearer anot?? I stay at bishan leh... How about City hall? Is it near anot?"

(2)
(One fine day in the office...)

(SPIG takes his shirt off... starts to flex...)

SPIG : "eh eugene, you think I look buffed anot?"
ME : (no comments... i was like, zzzz... and goes back to my work...)
SPIG : "eh... i think my chest too small... like very small like that... like that when wear uniform, not very nice leh..."

(3)
(one fine day, during an important exercise...)

ME : "eh... where's SPIG? isn't he supposed to be here too?"
My Boss : (in disbelieve) "He just called... he went to camp to take IPPT, but he was late, so he missed the test. Then he went for breakfast and went home."
ME : (stunned)

Anyway! time to RTP (recap the past)!!

Our FF (faithful-lest friend), Isabel suggested if we should SS (sing something) for Jared's birthday. And after some deliberation and trial in Linda's place, we decided yo sing "Faithful friend".

Here's the BTS (behind the scene)... all the LHE (long hours and effort)... and all the lost sleep... and all the sweat... all the blood... all wasted...

ok maybe not the sweat. But yes of course there's blood! think of all our minute blood capillaries bursting, when we try our brst to reach the high notes... oww....

21 years

"Forever thankful forever grateful,
I could never ask for more.
Friends, loved ones,
They're all my precious ore.

Always blessed Always favoured,
Showered with so much love.
All this could not be possible,
without the blessing from the One above."

21 years of existance... and I am thankful for everything. My personal theme for my 21st birthday is simple. To spend time with my good friends and family. To catch up, and to fellowship with one another. To enjoy life with each other with one of the many great things in life: Food.

Yepyep, you will now learn of Eugene's LOL, also known as Eugene's Law of Life.

This law states that;
For any living human being to remain mentally sound throughout his/her lifetime, he/she needs the combination of the FFF.
