Eventful

Indeed, it has been a very eventful weekend, and i am grateful!

A laughter-filled saturday afternoon at Pitstop cafe remembering Lisa's birthday with Daniel, Jared, ZhiWei, Amelia and Flannery. With good food, friends and fellowship, games and screaming and laughter, what more can we ask for? Wen back home for dinner later on for my mum's specialty, Gingseng chicken soup, and together with my granddad, watched Johnny English on TV.

Then came today. It was cell again at Ben's place, with ZhiWei spending almost an hour praying for each one of us. with certain elements in his prayer long devoted prayer, it left certain issues hanging in my head as our cell departed for lunch after that. It's been ages since I could seat with them for lunch, although I couldnt interact with all of them due to the limited space and area constraints, I guess it was still time well spent.

Dramalight presented another skit, this time depicting the picture of Sin. It's a good start to a certain event that is to come at the end of this year. Issues that need to be dealt with, issues that are sensitive, yet urgent and important, that the correct truth needs to go across. And more importantly, the behavorial and attitude changes towards such issues.

Beatrice from Choir feels that she's old. And strongly resents the fact that she will be older soon. If we all were to have such attitudes, I think our generation today will be pretty sucidal eh. haha! And she guessed that I was 24 years of age!! I don't look that old!! hahaha.

My evening didnt end just there, but first thing first. It's bathtime. Bathing is good. If you haven't been bathing for quite some time, I suggest you should go have one now. Serious.

Signal transduction

The utilization of technology is so rampant in our current generation. The invention of digital cameras, DSLRs, camera cellphones, are important tools in capturing dearest moments. Just how can we live without them?

The 2 images on my prevous post were captured using my Samsung U700 Cell.

Even the cellphone has evolved so much. It was originally invented to allow calls to be made without landlines, allowing greater flexibility and mobility as both talking parties may not need to be rooted at a fixed location during the conversation. Soon, short messaging servies were introduced to allow users to communicate with each other using text.

And now what do we have? A thin mobile device capable of long range voice and text communication, surfing the internet wirelessly, playing your favourite music and videos, and allowing the user to play mobile games. Not forgetting other crucial functions like the scientific calculator, calender organizer, alarm clock, digital camera, and the Memo Pad.

Why do I need a PSP, mp3 player, scientific calculator when I have my faithful Samsung U700 UltraEdition 12.1 ?

Sunrise!

Come to think of it, not cultivating a constant reading habit is deplorable. And unfortunately, that was how I was brought up back in the 90's. Thankfully, both my parents are English speaking or else one would imagine me as a typical Hokkien-peng who constantly uses the four-letter flowery vocab in every sentence. With that, i guess that made me who I am today, one who prefers materials which involves visuals as compared to words and literature.

Studying biology, a subject which I enjoy, with only words can be painful too if there isn't illustrations to explain certain facts and concepts. I believe some might snigger at the fact that i'm tutoring English. I thank God for the opportunity too i guess, during such process I too, have learn many new words and language structure which I didn't come across before.

Jonas' English results improved! The PSLE Prelims are over and the real hurdle to conquer for all primary 6 students is fast approaching.

Most books I ever opened or read in my life are mainly non-fictions. To transit over to fictions is quite a big jump, and I tried, but somehow I can't stay on for long. Haha. Oh well. Perhaps I should give it another shot, someday. Haha.

"as the morning wakes,
we your children give you praise!

you are magnificent, eternally,
wonderful, glorious,
Jesus, no one ever will compare to you Jesus."

It was indeed beautiful. Caught the sunrise on Tuesday morning, after mugging with flannery overnight at Macdonalds.

Look at the vast creation of beauty. Then look at us. Have we any idea how insignificantly puny we are? Yet, our Father still cares and loves us.

the son of man that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor."

Day of Births!

Blessed 81st and 24th Birthday to my Granddad and to Lijia, whose birthdays were held on last Saturday and Sunday respectively!

The Singapore Flyer, I felt, was overrated. Sure, the capsule we’re in were spacious, the view of the city skyline were great. But with the ongoing construction works of the Integrated Resorts at the Marina front, it wasn’t as scenic as expected. I guess the bigger turn-off was the fact that our Singapore Wheel was revolving so slowly!! Amelia too, said she got bored in the capsule after about 10 minutes or so.

Perhaps the fact that we Singaporeans are too used to the Fast-paced life we lead daily holds true. And upon boarding the Flyer, we were suddenly forced to slow down to a snail’s pace. Sure, the time can be used to appreciate the majestic skyscrapers in town, to stand in awe of our city we call home. However, with our stomachs growling and with babies around us wailing non-stop, I don’t think anyone is able to appreciate the view in peace.

On a positive note, it was still a good experience up there. I guess we could constantly be reminded, to take a break in life at times, pause, and appreciate all the wonderful things around you. To take a moment and be grateful, thankful for everything that our Father has blessed us with.

Initially, Jia thought we were heading to a Nice restuarant in town for dinner after church. But well, I guess all our previous "Bluff" games did improve my ability to convince without getting caught!

Kidnapped our dear birthday girl. Her quest: To locate various checkpoints in Bedok which will eventually lead to her final destination, where her childhood dream of having a birthday celebration at MacDonalds can finally come true.

Life Sciences

"Pathology", a murder thriller that's currently screening in The Cathay this week. The vast knowledge of science, the understanding, appreciation of various mechanism of actions of various chemicals, anaphylaxis, to determine the causes of deaths; and how one can abuse that intelligence for selfish reasons, at the expense of lives. To commit murder with their skills, and no commonman would have the slightest clue to its causeh. Is it any wonder why God forbade Adam and Eve from eating the fruit from the tree in the middle of the Garden?

Out of 5, I give it 4 popcorns!

On the other end of the Spectrum, "Space Chimps" was such a disappointment!! From the makers of Shrek, I would expect some standard and plot in the animation! Yes there were funny moments, but rarely, as the Movie trailers have "Spoilt" most of it. Scene changes in the movie were sudden and abrupt. In short, it was a bore. I'm sorry. The storyline, characters, depth of its plot, animation of Final Fantasy X is 17000 times better.

Out of 5, I give it Half a Popcorn!

Large screens aside,

Remember the little device most of us used to play with? A lil screen containing black pixels, and 3 grey buttons on the side? That electronic thing could be the only Pet some of us would have ever owned in our life. Haha. The classic Tamagotchi! From a lil egg to a Chick, we have to constantly provide it with food, spend quality time with our pet by playing some lil dumb games by pressing some buttons repeatedly. And of course, to clean and bathe the lil creature once in awhile too.

Taking care of Baby is almost similar to looking after your TamaGotchi Pet. Except that this time, Baby is more alive than just moving Pixels, Real food is used, its Pee and Poo are real, and you consistently need to shower it with lots of love and attention rather than just pressing buttons every few hours.

My adorable Baby tends to chew on anything that's "Bite-able" (if there's such a word). From floor mats, my mum's heels, my Fluffy Doggie Slippers, Tissue papers, Sofa edges, my fingers, my toes, my USB cable, my bag, some metal chain attached to my pull-out bed, Dad's home slippers, to paper bags.

And its adorable watching her running off with items, and hiding at one corner hoping that we do not catch her while she nibbles on her newly found "toy". Yes I know I'm supposed to be doing my part and disciplining her, but i guess my soft heart is constantly forbidding me to punish and scold her as much as my mum would.

Hidden meanings.

I am thankful for the opportunity to pull myself up once again, even though this chance may not be as grand or prestigious as others. Its a journey to consistantly filter the stuff that you hear, even in church. Or in Cell.

Some people just don't think before their words come out from their snobbish character. Oh well. We were taught to forgive. Not to hold grudges and to move on. Although...

Oh nevermind.

.

Is it any wonder why certain people have left the church, or maybe Cell, and not come back?

School starting's on 27th September this year, and currently my confirmed modules are,

  • Introductory Immunology
  • Molecular Biology

Time to hit the books again, and to unrust my brain cells after it became inactive from the two years while wearing the green uniform.

Smile!

I'm a Druid with a Chicken on my head, with a Really Impressive Title, wielding a Flaming Board of Education and a Gentlemen's Club, and wearing a leather armour, Pointy Hat of Power, Boots of Butt-kicking, riding a Talking Chicken Steed while holding some Pretty Balloons, and accompanied by a Gnome Hireling wielding a Human Shield.

That nonsense aside,

Take a break in life, and look around you.

Have we ever taken a moment and appreciate all the wonderful blessings we have, or do we take them for granted and only realize their significance when we lose them?

Ready to Roost

Many have spoken today.

And each of them, both directly and indirectly, somehow addressed certain personal issues in my life. Friends from Cell, from Speedlight service, from Choir, from Tuition.

I'm amazed at how God works, and how he speaks through various channels in our individual unique life. With billions of us here in this dying globe, He is still able to have deep personal relationships with each of his children, and doesn't neglect them.

Walked home after tuition, brisk walking is a good alternative if one doesn't have time for jogs. It's also a viable option to have personal reflections while journeying home with music in your ears.

I am drained. And I like such tiredness. It allows one to fall into deep sleep faster. I really abhor forcing myself to sleep early even though we know its good for our bodies, but I'm not tired, I can't fall asleep easily. Instead of spending the time tossing and turning in bed, I rather get up and do stuff, do work of some sort, burn off my excess adenine trisphosphate, so I can be tired.

Darn. Sounds like Insomnia again.

Gonna cook a simple meal and will be sinking my head into my beloved pillow early tonight. I wish everyone a Victorious week ahead!

Undefeated!

Utilizing technology and the internet, tracking the bus location from Bishan was a simple task, and managed to board it when it arrived at my busstop at about 11.53pm on 25th July 2008. It was the last bus that ply between Pasir Ris and Changi Airport for the night. It reminded me of the time when me and my classmates would study overnight at the airport about 10 hours before an examination or test in school. Would usually mug overnight with KianKai, JinCai, SiLing and a few others while munching away our circular hash browns at Burger King.

Yes, about 3 years after my last overnight mugging session during my Polytechnic days, I went back for another overnight Mug at the airport with Daniel, Flan, and Jeremy. And of course, it was interuppted by Munchkins!

We didn't play by ourselves, with opened arms, we invited a German guy into our game of Munchkins as well! He was waiting for his return flight back home after a tracking expedition in Indonesia with his friend. Ahh, and guess what? It was his first time playing the game and he won! Unacceptable!

But of course, together with Dan and Jremey, we humbly accepted defeat. It was a good game. Every Munchkin Dungeon Run is a different experience.

And came today. After feeding my Baby, walking my baby, showering lots of love to my Baby, I went back down to Temasek Polytechnic and joined Linda, Dan and Flan for Lunch. Love the chicken chop and the Egg salad. Cheap and simply delicious. Missed studying there.

Managed to revised a little bit on a small teeny portion of my Human Physio, we got down to yet another session of Munchkin. (Yes, we realised we are quite easily distracted)

Linda joined us for this game, and although she had played it before a long time ago, approximately 17000 years back, in a way she was kinda new to it. And it happened again! She won us!

o.O"

"The causes for beginner's luck are unknown. It is speculated, however, that beginner's luck arises from a disconnect between the player and the pressure of the game. A novice player is inexperienced and consequently is not expected to do well. This means that there is no pressure on the player to excel; this lack of pressure allows the player to concentrate more than a pressured veteran player."

-Wikipedia-

"This means that there is no pressure on the player to excel" HAHA! Nonsense! ROAR!

"Played Munchkins for the very first time last year during our Cell Christmas Gathering"

Anyway, here's our new addition to my family. Baby!!

Hui Jing's Birthday was 2 weeks ago, and I made a serious blunder when i was taking pics for her at her party.

I didn't realize the darn Polarizer was attached to my camera lens! UGH!!

The colours of the pics are somewhat screwed. Can't seem to be satisfied with the pics. Till now. Oh man...

"me and kelvin carried her the same way 4 years back during our orientation leaders training camp!"

Oh and before I forget, remember the German guy i mentioned earlier? He is super humongously tall too! Though slightly skinny. Can anyone guess his age? :)
